A chiropractor treating a new born babyHow old should you be prior to seeking chiropractic care? Immediately, is the answer! From infants to adults, kids of all ages benefit greatly from regular chiropractic care—establishing a lifelong passion for their own health and well-being. “It is better to create healthy kids, than fix broken adults”. There are a myriad of reasons why chiropractic care should be a prominent part of your child’s healthcare regime, however, we will focus on five (5) that are considered the most important.
Before we get started let’s explain exactly what chiropractic care means: Your brain controls your body. The mechanism that the brain uses to deliver messages to your heart, lungs, liver, kidney, reproductive system, skin, eyes etc. is called the central nervous system (CNS). Your CNS travels down your spine and through your body, like a telephone wire delivers a phone call from Australia to Florida. If for some reason that wire is blocked, then the message is unable to be delivered correctly. This causes your body to malfunction and eventually can produce symptoms such as pain, discomfort, dis-ease, inability to conceive, fatigue, stress and much more! When you place even the pressure of a quarter on your CNS, it can lose its ability to communicate by up to 75%. Chiropractic care is designed to identify the nerve blocks and relieve them through gentle manipulation and lifestyle changes. Once your body can function correctly, it will heal and perform at its best!
Five (5) reasons to have your kids under chiropractic care:
Birth trauma recovery.
Labor and child birth are considered one of the most traumatic experiences that both Mom and Baby will ever experience; although entirely worth the distress, the trauma is real and can have long lasting negative effects. Even cesarean birth can result in trauma for differing reasons.
” Birth trauma (BT) refers to damage of the tissues and organs of a newly delivered child, often as a result of physical pressure or trauma
during childbirth. The term also encompasses the long-term consequences, often of a cognitive nature, of damage to the brain or cranium” (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Birth_trauma).
Immune support. One of the most important systems in a child’s body is their immune system. Children share bugs through play and interaction, although it is important that kids are exposed to germs, a strong immune system is also vital. The immune system is strengthened by exposure to germs and an immunity is developed.
Chiropractic care has also been successful in building immunity, with patients reporting a reduction in episodes of illness and a more rapid recovery time. Can I hear a Why? Well simply put the immune system and the CNS are connected and chiropractic care identifies and removes blockages that hinder a strong CNS and Immune system.
Preventative care.
Historically, in China doctors were paid to keep their patients healthy. If the patient became unwell, then they would cease payment until their health retuned. Doctors that performed surgery were considered inferior as they were unable to maintain healthy patients through maintenance. Today our health care system is based on sickness care, i.e. when you are unwell you go to the MD and they prescribe medication or surgery.
The alternative is preventative care. Regular visits to the chiropractor has been shown to produce 60% less hospital admissions, 59% less days in hospital, 62% less outpatient surgeries and 85% less pharmaceutical cost.
Falls and injuries. Our kids fall over, bang into stuff, fall out of trees, get pushed off the climbing jungle at school, fall off their bikes, play rough and tumble and so much more. It is estimated that 8,000 children are treated daily in the U.S. due to falls. With all this falling and bashing themselves around, chiropractic care is vital.
Colic. The Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics
published a clinical study involving 104 randomized patients suffering from colic who were being treated with chiropractic care. The study concluded that “chiropractic manual therapy improved crying behavior in infants with colic.” We also have positive testimony from parents regarding their children, stating that their crying reduced substantially with chiropractic care.
