Medical History

When you make an appointment for a nutritional counseling session, you will first sit down with the doctor, who will get a full medical history. They will determine if there are factors in your family’s medical history or in your personal life that prevent you from losing weight or that need to be considered before they recommend a personalized nutritional plan.

Dietary Analysis and Recommendations 

You may also get a dietary analysis of your current diet. Many patients are stunned to see that they are getting double, triple or quadruple the amount of saturated fat, sugar or sodium that is recommended for one day. They also don’t realize how deficient their diets are of fruits, vegetables, dairy and healthy fats until they see it on paper.

From just looking at this dietary analysis, we can often make recommendations right away. Lowering caloric intake and cutting back on sugar are two things that we recommend to many patients. These things alone can help with many conditions in the body.

Establishing Goals

During your consultation visit, you will establish goals along with the doctor. You may have a certain number of pounds or inches around your waist that you’d like to lose. Then again, you might want to lower your cholesterol or blood pressure to the point that you can stop taking medication for these conditions. We also have patients who attend nutritional counseling because they want to improve their athletic performance. In all of these cases, we can help you set realistic goals toward your ultimate desired result.

Personalized Nutritional Plan

Once all of your health factors have been taken into account, we will design a personalized nutritional plan just for you. It will have all of the key elements to target your problem areas, and it will be directly focused on meeting the goals you have set together.

Supplements 

Supplements are sometimes recommended for patients who may have a hard time getting the nutrients they need from food. Our doctor recommends Juice Plus and Standard Plus products to patients who fall into this category.
