6 ways to cure your knee pain

Oct 20, 2021

What is knee pain?

Knee pain is one of the most common complaints that doctors hear about. And it's not just an annoyance, either. When the joint becomes inflamed or painful, it can greatly affect your ability to do normal daily activities like climbing stairs or walking around your neighborhood.

Knee pain is often caused by something called patellofemoral syndrome (PFS). It's a condition where there is too much pressure on the kneecap and/or its surrounding bone-cartilage area (patella). The patella then rubs against the femur bone in front of it, causing inflammation and pain. This happens because you're either bending your knee too far while kneeling down or sitting down for long periods of time.

How to treat knee pain?

The best way to avoid knee pain in the future is to take preventative measures. Since you don't know when it will strike, the only surefire way of preventing it is by taking measures to avoid any possible triggers. If you're already looking at knee pain, start by sitting less and walking more. That should give your knees a nice break from the pressure.

You can also do strengthening exercises to reduce the amount of pain you experience while kneeling or sitting down. When you do these exercises, don't push yourself too hard or the pain will come back.

The knee joint is a ball-and-socket joint. It is the largest joint in the lower extremities, and it provides stability for walking, running, jumping, and other activities. Knees are prone to many injuries that can cause pain or limit mobility. Fortunately, there are several ways to manage these injuries so you can continue living your active lifestyle.

1) Ice - Apply:

ice packs wrapped in a cloth to prevent any swelling or inflammation of the knees at least three times daily for 15 minutes each time for two days (or as long as needed). This will reduce swelling and inflammation caused by injury or arthritis.

2) Rest:

Take off work if possible during this healing process; do not put weight on the injured area; avoid stairs if possible.

3) Compression:

Use an elastic bandage to help control swelling and relieve pain.

4) Elevation:

Raise knees above heart level whenever possible. If this is not done, blood flowing back into the heart can cause further damage to the knee joint.

5) Medication:

Take over-the-counter medication for pain relief as directed.

6) Physical Therapy:

Ask your doctor about starting a physical therapy program to strengthen muscles surrounding the knee joint. If these muscles are strong, they will hold the knee in the correct position and reduce stress on the joint.
